Product information and a bit about us:

These timeless handmade floating shelves are made using live edge English horse chestnut and will add an understated elegance to your home.

These beautiful shelves are taken from the edge of large live edge slabs which means that no two shelves will ever be the same. We simply remove the bark from the wood, plain and sand, before finishing the piece with a handmade wax. Should the shelf require it, we may add a little resin to stabilise any knots etc.

The pale wood of horse chestnut cannot be fully appreciated in photos, it has a slight sheen running along the live edge which is why it is one of our personal favourites.

We operate a small, family run, workshop in the countryside. We love what we do and with years of carpentry experience we feel like we are pretty good at it! All of our wooden pieces are handmade by us in our workshop to order.

We believe wood should not go to waste and that is why the majority of wood we use comes from our friends over at local sawmills who source trees which were felled during projects such as HS2 and which, without their intervention, would have been burned without being given a second chance to be something amazing. Instead, the wood is saved, sawn, dried (seasoned), and then we take it to our workshop and make it into something beautiful!

Please let us know prior to ordering if you would like to order a custom depth or length so that we can ensure this can be carried out for you.

Our shelves are mounted with button fixings but should a deeper shelf be ordered we may choose to change this mount type for one more suitable. But this will still be a concealed fixing.

What you should know:

We know that every piece of wood is unique, so expect slight imperfections and knots that add character and individuality to each item. Embrace the natural beauty of wood, no two pieces are alike. 

You should be aware that heat can have an impact on wood, so if placing over a radiator please be aware there could be slight movement. Do not place hot items on the table to keep your table looking its best.

Installation:

Installation is a breeze with the included button fixings!

Each shelf has two mounting plates secured on the back and is supplied with two green disks and one red one. Simply screw one of the green disks into the wall where you would like your shelf to sit, and place the red disk into one of the rear mounting plates and slide the rack onto the already fitted green disk. Once your shelf is level, press the shelf into the wall and the red disk will mark where your second green disk needs to be affixed. Remove the shelf, screw in the second green disk and slide your shelf securely into place. You can go ahead and discard the red disk once used. It’s that simple!

If a deeper shelf is ordered then the mounting method will change to two bolts which you simply drill and screw into the shelf and the wall.
